Fleet Manager

Are you our next great Fleet Manager?

If you enjoy providing support to internal clients to help improve and maintain their fleet needs, we want you to apply today! The Fleet Manager is responsible for managing the shop staff and maintaining the fleet of vehicles and equipment, for making equipment available when needed at job sites, and for managing utilization of our fleet of trucks and off-road equipment. Strong hands-on leadership, management, and communication skills are essential.

Highlights of what a Fleet Manager will do, but not limited to:

  • Monitors and tracks equipment daily by job site, type, and usage.
  • Maintain and update equipment utilization percentages weekly.
  • Prepares an annual shop operating budget and business plan.
  • Vehicle performance monitoring, record keeping, and improvement.
  • Prepares, research, and orders equipment for capital asset purchases and disposals.
  • Prepares purchase orders for rental/specialty equipment, tracks each piece of rented equipment by job site and job number, and replaces or calls off rental equipment.
  • Manages vehicle registrations, licensing, taxes, fuel tax, and other associated regulations including but not limited to DMV registrations and current insurances.
  • Negotiates with vendors to obtain the best prices for parts; establishes accounts with service vendors; issues POs maintaining appropriate logs and following company policy and accounting systems; maintains good relations with vendors.
  • Provides branch management with a monthly budget analysis outlining fixed and controllable equipment costs as a percentage of sales revenue.
  • Provides branch management issues and bottlenecks detected in fleet operations.
  • Inspects equipment regularly to comply with company safety policies.
  • Maintains all vehicle and equipment information and inspection records.
  • Coordinates training sessions for new equipment with the operators as needed.
  • Attends Corporate Fleet Meetings, coordinates corporate fleet audits, and implements corporate initiatives.
  • Develop methods to decrease costs and improve efficiency.

*Skills & experience that are necessary as a Fleet Manager will include, but not limited to:

  • Must possess excellent & effective interpersonal and communication skills to partner cohesively with branch and field employees.
  • Strong organizational skills and effective time management skills are a must and the ability to work independently and effectively in fast-paced environment to meet deadlines/deliverables.
  • Ability to multi-task with strong follow up and negotiation skills in procurement, with the ability to create and maintain positive relationships with external vendors & internal customers.
  • Fleet management experience with equipment such as trucks, and trailers are highly preferred.
  • Experience with ensuring fleet compliance with state regulations, permits, and licensing.
  • Proficient working knowledge in MS office programs and fleet management systems.
  • Any other relevant mechanic or industry related certifications will be a plus (ASE)
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time throughout California, Arizona and Nevada to assist with transfers of fleet asset
